welcome

Knowledge is PowerRuskin, Florida was founded on the belief that through hard work and the pursuit of knowledge a community of individuals could prosper and come together for the common good.

Today there is a new need for us to come together: to save Ruskin's future by working to save Ruskin's past.

The Ruskin Historical Society wants to save local historic buildings from destruction and return them to productive use for the benefit of the entire community

The community of Ruskin will be 100 years old in 2008. On August 7, 1908 Mrs. Adaline D. Miller founded Ruskin's first post office in one of the Ruskin College buildings. In August 2008 a new college will be dedicated in Ruskin. Please contact us if you are interested in helping organize events that week to celebrate Ruskin's Centennial. fred@RuskinHistory.org

Thanks to the generous support of the Community Foundation of Greater Sun City Center "George A. Lutz Estate" we were able to establish the South Shore Children's History and Science Club.

The Ruskin Theater on US Hwy 41 in the Ruskin Downtown Redevelopment District is for sale. If you have any interest in buying this historic property and restoring it, please contact the owner. This building is too important to the community to allow it to continue to sit empty.
